The Rematch: Ravens vs Patriots

It is not very often that you get to see a rematch of the previoys year’s AFC Championship game. Today that will happen in the Ravens vs Patriots matchup. Last year’s AFC championship gam ended badly for the Baltimore Ravens due to a Lee Evans mistake in the end zone as well as a missed kick by Billy Cundiff.

This year may be different however. The Ravens have a great new rookie field goal kicker in Justin Tucker. They have also added speedster WR Jacoby Jones to the roster. The Baltimore Ravens also have a new offensive coordinator now and have been averaging 28 points per game since Jim Caldwell took over the offense.

We all know that Tom Brady and the New England Patriots can put up some points. The key to beating New England is by keeping close and then making the needed stops on defense. The Ravens usually play the Patriots very tough and if any team can go up to New England and win it is the Baltimore Ravens.

Ravens Shock Broncos and Peyton Manning

The Ravens vs Broncos playoff game was probably the best win for the Baltimore Ravens since the Superbowl victory in 2000! Almost nobody gave the AFC North Champion Ravens a chance to win against the Denver Broncos. Even most of the Baltimore area sports analysts were picking Denver to win. Who knew? Who knew the the offensive line would play outstanding for the Ravens? Who knew that Joe Flacco would outplay Peyton Manning and throw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs? Who knew that Torrey Smith would torch DB Champ Bailey time and time again? Who knew the the Baltimore Ravens would put up 38 points on what was considered one of the best defenses in the NFL?

What most analysts did not take into consideration is the heart of this Ravens team. This is a team of destiny. Maybe they didn’t know that the Ravens are hungry and are tired of getting knocked out of the playoffs like they did n the last 4 years. The Ravens are back baby with unfinished business! Our strong willed emotional leader Ray Lewis is back for his last ride baby!

Yesterday’s win against the Broncos was a total team effort on both offense and defense. The only negative was the special teams coverage which gave up 2 TDs and made the win harder to get than it should have been. The game itself was a high scoring battle going back and forth eventually going into double overtime. After the way the season ended last year, it was only fitting that the victory came on a long field goal by rookie Justin Tucker. In conclusion, the Ravens find themselves right where they need to be after this game. The Ravens are back in the AFC championship and one win away from the Superbowl.

Final Score: Ravens 38 Broncos 35

Ravens Seek Revenge Against Patriots Tonight

Nobody can forget the heartbreaking loss that the Baltimore Ravens suffered against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game last season. Well, tonight the Baltimore Ravens will have the opportunity to get revenge in primetime Sunday Night football. The Ravens will get this golden this opportunity in front of a packed home crowd at M&T Bank Stadium.

Both the Ravens and the Patriots are coming off of losses. The Ravens will try to rebound after a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week. The Ravens should have won last week but somehow decided to not run the ball with a 10 point halftime lead against the Eagles. The Ravens vs Patriots game will probably be the most anticipated NFL football matchup this week and it should turn out to be a good game.

Joe Flacco’s Contract is Next Up on Ravens Things to Do List

The Baltimore Ravens have already indicated that they would like to get Joe Flacco signed to a long term deal. The problem now is to come to an agreement on terms. Joe Flacco has helped the Baltimore Ravens appear in 4 straight playoff appearances since he became the Ravens starting quarterback in 2008. Joe Flacco even played better than Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots.

Flacco is going to want a lot of money in his new deal. I must say Flacco has been very durable during his first four years with the Ravens and pretty much never gets injured. It will be interesting to see what the terms of Joe Flacco’s contract will be. Hopefully the Ravens will be able to get a deal done and still have enough room to re-sign other much needed valuable players.

Ravens Endure Heartbreaking Loss to Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens have been to the playoffs for 4 straight years with Joe Flacco as our quarterback. Each of those four years has ended with a heartbreaking loss in the playoffs. Including yesterday’s 23 to 20 loss, the Ravens have loss in the AFC Championship game twice in the last four years. I’m not sure which playoff loss hurts the most. I don’t know if it was last year’s collapse to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2nd half or this loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship.

I do know that I am proud of my team. Many people didn’t give the Baltimore Ravens a chance against the Patriots and their powerful offense run by Tom Brady. They did not believe that the Ravens defense could stop Tom Brady from throwing any touchdown passes but they did. Nobody thought that Joe Flacco could out play Tom Brady statistically in this game but he did. Flacco had a 95.4 QB rating while Tom Brady had a low 57.5 QB rating. I mean who thought we would sweep the AFC North Division at the beginning of the season? Who knew that the Ravens would go undefeated at home for the first time in franchise?

In short, this loss was heartbreaking to say the least but there are several things to be proud of this season if you are a Ravens fan.

Ravens vs Patriots Preview

It will be the classic matchup of offense vs defense. The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best defenses in the NFL while the New England Patriots have one of the best offenses in the NFL. The last time the Baltimore Ravens played the New England Patriots in the playoffs, the Ravens not only won the game, but blew the Patriots out 33 to 14. Most sports analysts, however, are picking Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to win this time. The Patriots are heavy favorites to beat the Baltimore Ravens today in the AFC Championship game and advance to the Superbowl.

The last time the Ravens beat the Patriots in the playoffs they did so despite a poor statistical performance from Joe Flacco. Ray Rice had a big day that game and broke one for a TD on the first play from scrimmage. If you are counting the Ravens out in this game, take a look at what happened last time these 2 teams met in the playoffs in New England:

Ravens vs Texans Playoff Game Highlights

The Baltimore Ravens won ugly yesterday but we usually win ugly so that is no surprise. The Ravens found a way to defeat the Houston Texans and advance to the AFC Championship and that is all that matters. Here is a video clip of some of the Ravens vs Texans highlights from the playoff game at M & T Bank stadium in Baltimore.

Can the Ravens Beat the Steelers on the Road?

The Baltimore Ravens will have to win in hostile territory today in order to continue their quest to win a Superbowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Ravens in the AFC Championship 2 years ago and have been a thorn in our sides ever since. Today, the Baltimore Ravens have a golden opportunity to get revenge. A win over the Steelers today would probably be the next best thing to winning the Superbowl for Ravens fans. I believe that the Ravens have enough talent to win on the road especially if they play with the same intensity that they did against the Chiefs.

Ravens Dominate Chiefs 30 to 7

What a game! The Baltimore Ravens took the young Kansas City Chiefs team to school! The Ravens held the ball for over 40 minutes! Todd Heap caught 10 passes for 108 yards! The defense was incredible hitting hard and forcing turnovers. This was probably the most complete game the Baltimore Ravens had all season.

The Baltimore Ravens go on to face the Pittsburgh Steelers next week to see who will go to the AFC championship. They will have to be road warriors once again next week. If they play like they played today next week, the Ravens will be hard to beat.

Go Ravens!!!
