Pass Happy Ravens Eat a Loss

The Baltimore Ravens just ate their fifth loss of the season. Last game Joe Flacco nearly had his head taken off by a vicious hit and went into the concussion protocol. I thought the Ravens would run and pound the football this week but instead Joe Flacco threw the ball 52 times which resulted in 2 interceptions. Running back Alex Collins had just 13 carries and Javarious Allen had just 7 carries. The result was a 23 to 20 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Even the New Orleans Saints which are known to be a passing team with a better quarterback in Dree Brees had a better run/pass balance this week. Dree Brees only threw the ball 27 times while running back Mark Ingram had 16 carries and Alvin Kamara had 10 carries. This illustrates what a good run/pass balance looks like and the result was a 30 to 10 Saints win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Why are Ravens so pass happy especially when Joe Flacco just had his head smashed to the point where his ear almost fell off the prior week?

Ravens Whip Dolphins Ass for Dirty Hit on Joe Flacco

The Baltimore Ravens were probably going to beat the Miami Dolphins anyway, but after the dirty hit on Joe Flacco they decided to really kick some Dolphin ass! It actually turned out to be the biggest shut out in Baltimore Ravens history! It was the worst ass whipping the Miami Dolphins received in the last 20 years!

Joe Flacco left the game with a head injury after a devastating hit while sliding. The Ravens defense responded by shutting the Dolphins down and the Ravens fried the fish with a score of 40 to 0. Go Ravens!

Ravens Need to Get Back to Playing Ravens Football

The Baltimore Ravens stink this year. Let’s be blunt. The Ravens are not built for Joe Flacco to be throwing the ball over 70% of the time. The Ravens need a balanced attack which will open up play action opportunities. The Ravens need to get back to running the ball and playing good defense. That is Ravens football.

Although Joe Flacco did not throw an interception in the game against the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday, he didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard with points or rack up much yardage throwing the football. Joe Flacco has never really had amazing stats but he has at least been a winning quarterback earlier in his career. Flacco has thrown more interceptions than he has touchdowns this year. The Ravens need to commit to running the football at least until Joe Flacco gets his act together.

Baltimore Ravens Fall to Chicago Bears at Home

The Baltimore Ravens used to be very tough to beat at home. The Ravens let the Chicago Bears come into M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday and beat them with a rookie quarterback. That’s right our well paid veteran quarterback Joe Flacco got beat by a rookie quarterback at home. Joe Flacco threw two interceptions in the game and has looked horrible all season.

Eric Weddle looked like garbage and missed a key tackle in overtime and fell on his back and basically go ran over by Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard. The play led to the Chicago Bears winning field goal to make the final score 27 to 24 in OT. The play reminded me of the play when Eric Weddle let Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown overpower him at the goal line last Christmas in what became known as the immaculate extension. To Eric Weddle’s credit, he did accept full responsibility for the missed tackle.

Ravens vs Bengals Game Ends in a Heartbreaking Loss

The Ravens vs Bengals game was a heart breaker. The Ravens were down 15 to 0 at the end of the first half mainly due to dropped passes, a fumble, an a bone headed play by quarterback Joe Flacco. Not to mention a rarely missed field goal by kicker Justin Tucker.

The Ravens battled back however to take the lead were up 16 to 15 late in the 4th quarter. Andy Dalton then went deep to his bread and butter wide receiver A.J. Green for a touchdown to give the Bengals a 23 to 16 lead. Joe Flacco managed to drive into Bengals territory with a chance to win but the offensive line gave up 2 untimely sacks which sealed the loss for the Ravens.

The Ravens are currently preparing to play the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

Will Joe Flacco and the Ravens Offense Get it Together?

Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense will have to step up today when they face the defense of the Houston Texans today. The Baltimore Ravens will have to do it without the help of Ray Rice as he is still recovering from a hip injury. With Anquan Boldin gone and Dennis Pitta out because of injury, the Ravens offense has struggled and are not putting up the kind of numbers that they did during their Superbowl run.

Joe Flacoo is now one the top highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL and he will have to prove he can lead the offense in spite of all the injuries. If Ed Reed does play today, hopefully Joe Flacco won’t throw him a pick six.

Ravens Move into 1st Place in AFC North!

The Baltimore Ravens have moved into 1st place in the AFC North by defeating the Cleveland Browns today. The Ravens defense play much better this week and did not give up any touchdowns this week. The offense did not look spectacular but Joe Flacco did throw another TD pass to rookie WR Marlon Brown.

Ray Rice suffered a weird hip injury during game. There was no report on the seriousness of the Ray Rice injury yet. Pash rushers Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs both recorded sacks for the Baltimore Ravens.

Final Score: Ravens 14 Browns 6

It is Showtime: Ravens vs Broncos

Several questions will be answered this season for the Baltimore Ravens. Here are some key questions that we might get an answer to in the Ravens vs Broncos game tonight:

1. Is Joe Flacco worth the new contract?

It will be interesting to see which Joe Flacco shows up tonight. Either the regular season Flacco or the post season Flacco during the Superbowl run. If Joe Flacco can defeat Peyton Manning two times in a row then it would be a major accomplishment.

2. How good will our new defense be?

The defense will definitely get tested tonight going against the Broncos offense and their 3 top notch receivers. It will be interesting to see how our secondary will hold up without Ed Reed.

3. Who will step up at the wide receiver position?

With Anquan Boldin gone and Dennis Pitta injured, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the 2nd receiver behind Torrey Smith.

The Ravens vs Broncos will be a good game to start off the NFL football season but it is a shame that the game will not be played in Baltimore where it belongs.

Ravens Cut Tandon Doss and Bobby Rainey

The Baltimore Ravens had to make some tough decision to get down to the 53 man roster by Saturday evening. Some of the well known players that were cut by the Ravens included wide receiver Tandon Doss and running back Bobby Rainey. Both Tandon Doss and Bobby Rainey played fairly well in the last pre-season game. Bobby Rainey played especially well scoring two touchdowns in the game.

Many fans were upset that Bobby Rainey was let go since he played so well. One thing is for sure and that is that the Ravens will have plenty of new faces this year. It will be very interesting to see who emerges as key players this year. Joe Flacco will most certainly have some new toys to play with at the wide receiver position.

RavensBlogger.com Awards for Ravens 2012 Season

Ok it is time to announce the RavensBlogger.com Player Awards for the Baltimore Ravens 2012 season. The awards are as follows:

Most Improved Ravens Player Award – This award goes to Paul Kruger. Paul Kruger stepped up his game in 2012 and became the leading pass rusher for the Baltimore Ravens. With Terrell Suggs out for most of the season, Kruger led the Ravens with 9 sacks. It is no surprise that he got a huge deal from the Cleveland Browns in free agency. Paul Kruger’s Career Stats

Ravens Rookie of the Year Award – This award goes to Justin Tucker. After what happened with Billy Cundiff previously, acquiring rookie kicker Justin Tucker was a huge blessing. Tucker showed he could handle the pressure and was 100% on kicks that were over 50 yards going 4 for 4! He was 100% on PATs and 90.9 % accurate overall on field goals. Justin Tucker’s Career Stats

Ravens Offensive Player of the Year Award – This award goes to Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco threw for more yards in 2012 than he did in any previous year and he ended up with 3,812 yard passing. Although there were some inconsistencies during the regular season this may have been due the scheme under former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Flacco flourished under Caldwell in the playoffs. The Baltimore Ravens organization obviously believe in him since they gave him a lucrative contact making him the highest paid player in the NFL! Joe Flacco’s Career Stats

Ravens Defensive Player of the Year Award – This award goes to Bernard Pollard. Bernard Pollard was our designated hitman on defense. When I think of the slogan “Play like a Raven” Bernard Pollard was the first name that came to mind. Pollard led the Baltimore Ravens defense with 98 tackles. He also hit the hardest on the team no doubt. Bernard Pollard’s Career Stats

Ravens Leadership Award – This award goes to none other than Ray Lewis for the second year in a row. Ray Lewis will probably go down as the best on the field leader to ever play the game. You all saw what happened when he came back from injury and announced his retirement. The team stepped up and went on a Superbowl run under his leadership. Ray Lewis’ Career Stats
