Ravens Pick Jimmy Smith in First Round

The Baltimore Ravens have decided to fix their problems at the cornerback position by taking Jimmy Smith as their first round pick in the 2011 NFL draft. If you remember the playoff game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers last year, you’ll understand why. If Webb didn’t get burned deep on a pass late in the game, the Ravens would have played an AFC championship game in Baltimore.

I am very satisfied with this first round pick for the Ravens. Let’s just hope that Jimmy Smith lives up to his potential as a shutdown cornerback.

Ravens 2011 NFL Mock Draft

Most of 2011 NFL mock drafts that I have seen have the Ravens picking either Jimmy Smith from Colorado or Cameron Heyward from Ohio State in the first round. Jimmy Smith is a talented cornerback but may have some personal issues. Cameron Heyward is a top prospect at the DE/DT position.

With Chris Carr, Josh Wilson and Fabian Washington, all being free agents this off season, taking Jimmy Smith in the first round might be a good move for the Ravens. Another top NFL draft prospect the Ravens might be looking at strongly is OT Derrick Sherrod.

Ravens Draft Picks 2011 – Impact Player Needed

The Baltimore Ravens really need some good draft picks in the 2011 NFL draft. The Ravens 2010 draft picks were a bust in my opinion. None of the players that the Ravens picked in the 2010 NFL draft made any significant immediate impact last year. We did trade our third and fourth round picks last year for Anquan Boldin who did make somewhat of an impact, so I do have to take that into consideration.

I personally would like to see the Ravens get that young cornerback this year who could come in and make an immediate impact. Jimmy Smith from Colorado, might just be the player we are looking for in the first round. If we get him, hopefully he won’t be a bust like Sergio Kindle in the 2010 NFL draft. It would also be great to see the Ravens get a big left tackle and a good pass rusher on defense.

Remember the Ravens Giants Superbowl?

If you are tired of listening to the news about NFL lockout, this may be the perfect time to remember the glory days of Ravens history. Yes, I’m talking about the Raven Giants Superbowl which was Superbowl XXXV. Superbowl 35 was when the Baltimore Ravens demolished the New york Giants by a score of 34 to 7. The Ravens had the greatest defense ever in the history of the NFL that year!
