It is Showtime: Ravens vs Broncos

Several questions will be answered this season for the Baltimore Ravens. Here are some key questions that we might get an answer to in the Ravens vs Broncos game tonight:

1. Is Joe Flacco worth the new contract?

It will be interesting to see which Joe Flacco shows up tonight. Either the regular season Flacco or the post season Flacco during the Superbowl run. If Joe Flacco can defeat Peyton Manning two times in a row then it would be a major accomplishment.

2. How good will our new defense be?

The defense will definitely get tested tonight going against the Broncos offense and their 3 top notch receivers. It will be interesting to see how our secondary will hold up without Ed Reed.

3. Who will step up at the wide receiver position?

With Anquan Boldin gone and Dennis Pitta injured, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the 2nd receiver behind Torrey Smith.

The Ravens vs Broncos will be a good game to start off the NFL football season but it is a shame that the game will not be played in Baltimore where it belongs.

Ravens Football is Back!

It is great to have Ravens football back! There are several questions that need to be answered as the Ravens get prepared for the new football season. On offense, who will step up to be that clutch 2nd and 3rd receiver? How good will the Ravens secondary be without Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard? These are the major questions that need to be answered if the Baltimore Ravens are going to be able to make a run for another Superbowl win this year.

Ed Reed is Going to Houston Texans

Looks like the Baltimore Ravens will lose superstar safety Ed Reed to the Houston Texans. Although Ed Reed’s contract has not been signed yet, it is being reported that he has accepted the offer and plans to go play for the Houston Texans next year.

Ed Reed will surely be missed here in Baltimore. Below is a clip od Ed Reed’s speech at the Ravens parade and Superbowl 47 victory celebration:

Superbowl 47: Ravens vs 49ers Analysis

The San Francisco 49ers are the favorites to win the Superbowl today. The 49ers have a rookie quarterback however. This rookie quarterback has never faced the likes of Ray Lewis or Ed Reed.

Have people forgotten how this Baltimore Ravens defense completely shut out the New England Patriots in the second half of the AFC Championship game. Have they forgotten how the Baltimore defense dominated the first Harbowl?

Both teams have alot of weapons on offense and good defenses. I am looking for Ray Lewis to get his 2nd ring though and Joe Flacco to get more respect throughtout the league when the Ravens win the Superbowl. I am drinking the purple Kool-Aid and I am taking the Rvens all the way.

The Ravens have come much too far to lose this game. If Jim Harbaugh beats us with a rookie quarterback then the 49ers deserve to win.

Predition: Ravens 24 49ers 17

Ed Reed Breaks NFL Record Against Bengals!

In debate of who is the greatest free safety of all time, Ed Reed must be at the top of the list after tonight. He probably was at the top of the list before tonight but he just sealed the deal. With his pick six against the Bengals tonight , Ed Reed now holds the record for the most interception return yards in NFL history with 1,497. This is the reason I wear my Ed Reed jersey with pride on purple Fridays.

The Baltimore Ravens went undefeated at home last year. The way they are performing thus far against the Bengals in front of a home crowd on Monday Night Football, they just may go undefeated at home again this year.

Ed Reed Comments on Joe Flacco

The story of the day is about Ed Reed’s comments that he made on SiriusXM NFL Radio about Joe Flacco. Personally, I think the media took Ed Reed’s comments and blew them out of proportion. I’ve listened to fans call in to radio talk shows upset by the comments. Some of these same fans acting upset probably have made more harsh criticisms of Joe Flacco in the past. Yeah, the timing of these comments may have been bad but it is what it is. Joe Flacco has very tough skin so maybe he’ll use this as motivation to have a great game against the Patriots. Like I said in a previous article, all Joe Flacco has to do is win a Superbowl and he’ll silence the critics.
I personally had no problem with the way Joe Flacco played against the Houston Texans. He threw 2 touchdown passes against a top rated defense and had no interceptions. If anything, I was embarrassed by the fact we couldn’t convert in short yardage situations. The offensive line was horrible. They gave up 5 sacks. Joe Flacco is probably the most durable quarterback in the NFL and it is a wonder that he never gets hurt. He is the best quarterback that the Ravens have had even though that isn’t saying much considering who we’ve had.

Here is a clip of ESPN analysts discussing Ed Reed’s comments:

Ravens Beat Bengals and Take Control of AFC North

The Baltimore Ravens went back to a more balanced attack at they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals today 31 to 24. The uses the proven winning formula of giving Ray Rice the ball. Ray Rice had 20 carries for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. Going into this game, Joe Flacco had more passing attempts than Tom Brady this season.

Rookie CB Jimmy Smith intercepted his first NFL pass today. Ladarius Webb and Ed Reed also intercepted passes in the game. Ray Lewis did not play but was an emotional leader on the sidelines. The Ravens now are in first place in the AFC North and sit in the driver’s seat in the division.

The Ravens will play the 49ers Thursday night on Thanksgiving Day.

Ravens Defense Too Much for Jets to Handle

The Baltimore Ravens defense was too much for the poor New York Jets to handle Sunday night. Despite a poor performance by the offense, the Ravens defense showed up with their A game. The Ravens defense set the tone early with an Ed Reed blitz that ended up in a forced fumble and a return for touchdown

The defense attacked Mark Sanchez all night and Haloti Ngata hit him so hard on one play that I thought his back would be broken. Joe Flacco didn’t have a good day but the Ravens defense more than made up for it by forcing 3 turnovers that got returned for touchdowns. The Ravens have a bye this week.

Final Score: Ravens 34 Jets 17

Ravens Stomp Steelers 35 to 7

It wasn’t even close. The Baltimore Ravens completely dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers today. It it wasn’t for a 3 man rush play call on defense in the first half, the Steelers probably would not have even scored at all. Excuse my language, but this ass whipping was long overdue. Revenge is the sweetest thing next to getting …. Tupac said it best:)

Joe Flacco looked absolutely great today. Ed Reed had 2 interceptions. T. Sizzle aka Terrell Suggs pretty much owned Ben Roethlisburger all day. Ray Lewis is still forcing fumbles and getting picks. Ray Rice rushed for over 100 yards. Who says you can’t run on Pittsburgh? The whole offense and defense played well. Game over. Looks like the Titans got next.

Here’s a brief clip of Suggs putting Big Ben on his back during the game.

Jimmy Smith Could Be Biggest Steal in 2011 NFL Draft

Jimmy Smith, the outstanding cornerback from Colorado, was considered by many NFL draft analysts to be a top ten talent in the 2011 NFL draft. He fell to later rounds due to questions about his character off the field. The Baltimore Ravens who were very interested in drafting Jimmy Smith were able to select him with 27th pick in the draft.

Drafting Jimmy Smith could prove to be the biggest steal in the 2011 NFL draft if Smith lives up to his potential. Based on the interviews I’ve seen, Smith looks like he is sincere in being a role model player for the Ravens. The Ravens have been craving a shutdown corner for the last few years. Now that Ravens have Jimmy Smith covering along with Ed Reed, the Ravens secondary could be a serious force to reckon with.
