Rex Ryan & Co. Returning to Baltimore

If the Baltimore Ravens had not collapsed in the 2nd half against the Pittsburgh Steelers in last season’s playoffs, this would have been the AFC Championship Game match up last season. The Baltimore Ravens will take on the Baltimore Jets (I mean the New York Jets) Sunday night. Sorry, the Jets have so many former Baltimore Ravens personnel that I call them the baby Ravens. Sunday night they will return to Baltimore to play their daddies.

The Jet’s fearless leader and former Ravens defensive coordinator, Rex Ryan, will have his team ready to play for sure. Rex Ryan is big on stopping the run and the Jet’s gave up yards galore last week. The last time these 2 teams met the Ravens won a very close game in New York. The is a game that Rex Ryan & Co. really want to win. Expect to see some hard hitting smash mouth football and a very good game.

By the way, Rex Ryan’s book makes a good read. He talks about some of his experiences as a defensive coordinator while he was with the Baltimore Ravens.

Titans Play Well And Ravens Take the L

Was it the road trip? Did Tennessee really play that well? I don’t know what it was but the Baltimore Ravens were not the same team that we saw last week against the Steelers. The offense didn’t do much and the defense played horribly giving up yards galore. I mean the Ravens played so well last week, I was getting text messages from my cousin saying how he thinks they are going to the Superbowl. Today I did not get one positive text message about the Ravens. I mean this type of inconsistency in the play of our football team has me worried is the reason why the Ravens lost 26 to 13 to the Titans today.

Hopefully, the team we saw in week #1 will show up in week #3. If the team from week #2 shows up next week then this is going to be a long tough season for Ravens fans.

Ravens Move on to Play Titans Today

After hitting the Pittsburgh Steelers in the mouth last week, the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Tennessee Titans today. I expect the Ravens to dominate this game as well but expect it to be closer than the Steelers game. The Ravens will be on the road so they must protect the ball better than Ortiz protected himself in the Mayweather fight last night. As long as the Ravens don’t commit costly turnovers, they should get another win.

Go Ravens!!!

Ravens Stomp Steelers 35 to 7

It wasn’t even close. The Baltimore Ravens completely dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers today. It it wasn’t for a 3 man rush play call on defense in the first half, the Steelers probably would not have even scored at all. Excuse my language, but this ass whipping was long overdue. Revenge is the sweetest thing next to getting …. Tupac said it best:)

Joe Flacco looked absolutely great today. Ed Reed had 2 interceptions. T. Sizzle aka Terrell Suggs pretty much owned Ben Roethlisburger all day. Ray Lewis is still forcing fumbles and getting picks. Ray Rice rushed for over 100 yards. Who says you can’t run on Pittsburgh? The whole offense and defense played well. Game over. Looks like the Titans got next.

Here’s a brief clip of Suggs putting Big Ben on his back during the game.

Ravens Lead Steelers 21 to 7 After One Half of Play

The Baltimore Ravens got off to another incredible start against the Pittsburgh Steelers today. The Ravens scored on just their 2nd play of the game on a TD pass from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin. Ray Rice has been a beast in the first half and had over 100 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs.

The Baltimore defense has played okay so far as well. Terrell Suggs caused Ben Roethlisberger to fumble and has been causing havoc for the Steelers offense all day. Before we get too excited though, we were leading 21 to 7 in the playoff game too before disaster struck. Hope lightning doesn’t stike in the 2nd half.

Go Ravens!!!

Ravens Getting Ready for Pre Season Game 2

The Baltimore Ravens will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at M & T Bank Stadium on Friday, August 19th. The game is set to start about 7:30pm. The offensive line played pretty poorly in the first pre season game so that will be an area to keep an eye on in Game 2 . Another area to check out is the passing game. Joe Flacco will need to develop his timing with his new receivers this year.

The game will be a rematch of the first round of the playoffs last year when the Ravens dominated the Chiefs. Game 1 of the regular season in september will be against the rival Pittburgh Steelers.

Analyzing the Competition: Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 NFL Draft Picks

Most people will agree that the Baltimore Ravens had a pretty good 2011 NFL draft. The Ravens received good 2011 draft grades from most analysts. When analyzing the draft, you also need to pay attention to what the competition is doing. All Ravens fans know that the Pittsburgh Steelers are our biggest competition in the AFC North. So let’s take a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 NFL draft picks:

Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 NFL Draft Picks
Round 1 – DE Cameron Heyward, Ohio State
Round 2 – OT Marcus Gilbert, Florida
Round 3 – CB Curtis Brown, Texas
Round 4 – CB Cortez Allen, Citadel
Round 5 – DE/OLB Chris Carter, Fresno State
Round 6 – OG Keith Williams, Nebraska
Round 7 – RB Baron Batch, Texas Tech

My Analysis: There are several similarities between the Ravens draft picks and the Steelers draft picks. The Steelers fixed some of the same problems that the Ravens attempted to fix in the draft. They picked 2 cornerbacks and so did the Ravens. The Steelers picked a running back in the 7th round of the draft and the Ravens did also. The main difference is that the Ravens picked up 2 wide receivers and a QB while the Steelers chose to focus more on their offensive line and the defensive end position. This makes alot of since for the Steelers since they already have young speedy receivers and a starting quarterback that can still play well even with a bad foot and a broken nose:) Cameron Heyward would have probably been picked by the Ravens if Jimmy Smith was not available in the first round. Most of the 2011 NFL draft analysts gave both the Steelers and the Ravens high grades on their draft picks this year and I agree.

I Need Football!!!

Ok, it has been a while since I last posted. I had to take a break after the playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like most Ravens fans, I was happy to see them (Pittsburgh Steelers) go down to the Packers in the Superbowl.

Well, there has been so much going on in the off-season and there is is a chance we might not have football if the owners and players don’t come to some sort of agreement. With the economy the way it is and gas prices going sky high, I will definitely need my football fix to relieve stress if nothing else.

I really hope these idiots work it out and end the football strike for the sake of the fans because I am really going to need some football this year!

Steelers vs Packers in Superbowl Today

I will be a Green Bay Packers fan today as I watch Superbowl XLV. Even though I respect the Pittsburgh Steelers and everything they have accomplished, I can’t stand to see them win another Superbowl. Especially, when I feel like it should have been the Baltimore Ravens representing the AFC instead. What can I say? I am a die hard Ravens fan. It should be a good Superbowl game however between two good teams.

Pediction: Packers 27 Steelers 17

Ravens vs Steelers Recap

The Baltimore Ravens ended their season yesterday with a 2nd half collapse against the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday. The Ravens blew a 14 point lead going into the second half only to get knocked out of the playoffs for the third straight year. The Ravens have had 4th quarter let downs throughout the season but this is the first time they had a complete second half collapse. It really came down to offensive execution in the second half. The Steelers offense made plays in the second half while the Ravens offense found ways to give the game away with 3 offensive turnovers. Changes are going to have to be made if the Ravens are going to get past the Steelers next year and that is for sure.

Final Score: Ravens 24 Steelers 31
